An annual Milwaukee summer tradition will live on.
Thanks to the collaborative effort from Milwaukee Bucks part-owner Ted Kellner, the Milwaukee Brewers and Christian Yelich, as well as American Family Insurance, the July 3 fireworks show will continue into the forseeable future.
“It was looking pretty dour,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said of show’s chances of continuing. “This is an exciting day. The fireworks will continue. It’s great for families and it’s great for the city.”
The show, previously sponsored by US Bank, was in jeopardy after the company said they would not sponsor the 2019 edition.
“I actually remember watching that fireworks show from my balcony last year,” said Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich. “To realize it was a Milwaukee tradition and in jeopardy of being lost, I just want to say thank you to everybody that made it possible to bring it back.”
The announcement was made official Saturday at Miller Park.
