As we wait to see who will claim the largest lottery jackpot ever won in the state, one attorney says there are some steps to take before and after claiming a large jackpot to ensure the money doesn’t become too big of a burden, or just slips away too quick.
Chuck Stansberry , a shareholder who works with the law firm Schober , Schober and Mitchell, talked to WTMJ about the big Powerball win in his city.
He also provides some insight on what should be done by the winner(s). Questions they need to ask themselves is if they have the right advisors assisting them in estate planning, what factors to consider when deciding between taking a one-time lump sum or spreading out the winnings with an annuity, and what needs to be considered after the money is in the winner’s hands.
