MILWAUKEE- The Milwaukee Admirals are capitalizing on the moment.
Following the release of a now-viral video showing former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy confronting a referee during a high school basketball game last month, the Admirals are showing their support to high school refs by offering free tickets.
“We appreciate our area refs, for sure,” Admirals President Jon Greenberg tells WTMJ. “We like to capitalize on the news of the day, especially when it relates to sports and that’s what we are doing here.”
It’s not all fun and games, Greenberg says it’s also an opportunity to talk about an issue that he’s seen from youth sports through the pros, “I had a daughter play youth hockey for years and certainly saw fans get on refs and it’s just not called for.”
The free ticket promotion is for tonight’s game against the Texas Stars. All referee tickets must be picked up in person with proof of certification at the Admirals Ticket Office, or the UWM Panther Arena Box Office Window.
Doors open at the Panther Arena at 6 p.m.
