The Milwaukee Common Council approved an ordinance to boost fines for littering to a flat fee of $500.
The legislation got the green light at Tuesday’s council meeting, eliminating the previous penalty range of $25 to $500 for a first littering offense. They also eliminated a subsequent offenses from $50 to $500.
The ordinance will go into effect April 1.
