A Salem man could be facing an attempted first-degree intentional homicide charge after he caused a crash in Rochester Saturday night.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office says their deputies responded to a 911 call of a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of County Road J and County Road A around 10:45 p.m. Deputies found the caller, a 40-year-old woman from Salem, who claims she was the one driving the vehicle.
She told investigators her 39-year-old husband was riding with her, claiming to have said he hoped she would crash and that it would kill them both. He then allegedly grabbed the steering wheel and drove the car off the road into a tree.
The vehicle suffered heavy front-end damage, and the driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The suspect claims he was uninjured and was taken into custody.
The case has ben forwarded to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office for charges.
