A report says that the President’s administration is creating a draft to order a national emergency for funding for a wall on the southern border of the United States.
CNN says the Trump administration has found $7 billion in possible funding for a border wall, all currently as the government is currently in a partial shutdown.
“The massive amount of aliens who unlawfully enter the United States each day is a direct threat to the safety and security of our nation and constitutes a national emergency,” a draft of the national emergency order reads, according to CNN.
“Now, therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C 1601, et seq.), hereby declare that a national emergency exists at the southern border of the United States,” the draft adds.
The report says that court and Congressional challenges from Democrats would be expected if President Trump attempts to work around Congress to free up the funding.
