A Lake Mills firefighter is being hailed a hero by those who knew him best.
The family of Capt. Chris Truman spoke to the media for the first time since Truman was hit and killed by an accused drunk driver. Truman had pulled over on the Beltline to help a crash victim that was stranded.
“He was an amazing man, he would go out of his way for anyone,” said Truman’s fiance Amber Turfle. “He loved what he did and he would never regret getting out of that car.”
Truman was 46-years-old.
