A new/old look for the Milwaukee Police Department.
The department may soon re-implement a former version of a police patch that had been phased out in 2014, sources tell WTMJ.
Former Chief Ed Flynn had implemented the current design, which includes updated city symbols. The former patch would be brought back through attrition. No extra funds would be used.
Why make the change? WTMJ’s Erik Bilstad reports the rank-and-file had always been ‘luke-warm’ to the new patch. The patches are worn on the officers’ sleeve.
When asked for comment, a department spokesperson said it’s undetermined whether MPD will change patches. The Milwaukee Police Association declined to comment.
