A report by an ESPN NBA writer says that much of the NBA fully believes the Milwaukee Bucks’ current MVP will stay with the team long-term, and that his potential departure in free agency won’t happen.
ESPN’s Tim Bontemps says in his latest column that he spoke to numerous NBA executives.
“Every executive we spoke to expects Antetokounmpo to re-sign with Milwaukee,” said Bontemps.
“Falling short of (making the NBA Finals) looks to be the only thing that could put Milwaukee’s MVP in play.”
The Bucks are expected to offer the “supermax” contract to Antetokounmpo. As Forbes describes, that contract would last five years and run 35 percent of the team’s salary cap, with eight percent yearly raises.
Only the Bucks would be allowed to sign him to that contract this off-season, per NBA rules.
