For Burlington’s Mark Gruber, it was just another Sunday at the ballpark.
That was until Mike Moustakas hit a home-run into ‘Toyota Territory’ at Miller Park, winning him a RAV4.
“Gentleman from the Brewers came up. We are seated just above the tunnel in our section in 424. I see this guy, he is kind of counting seats, I’m not thinking too much of it,” Gruber tells WTMJ. “All of a sudden, he comes up and taps me on the shoulder and asks to see my ticket. And my first thought ‘what’s going on, they’re kicking me out of me seat or something.’ So I was a little short with him. He goes ‘No, I need to see your ticket, you may have won a car.'”
“So I dug the ticket out and gave it to him. Next thing you know, we’re up on the big screen in the 9th inning and they’re handing me about an 18-inch Toyota key.”
Since then, it’s been a whirlwind 48 hours.
“Lot of phone calls, hearing from people I hadn’t heard from in 20 years.”
Gruber will receive his Toyota RAV4 during a Brewers pregame ceremony on June 20th.
It will likely be a NEW car, but Gruber jokes “having the dent in it would be a pretty good story too, wouldn’t it.”
