Lorenzo Cain once again showed Sunday he is a contender for a Golden Glove award this season, but the focus quickly shifted to his future availability after being hit by a pitch.
In the top of the sixth inning in the Brewers' game against the Mets, Pete Alonso hit a ball deep into center-right field. Cain was able to run it down and make the catch, but it came with a hard collision into the outfield wall.

Cain was down on the warning track for a moments, and trainers did come out to check on him, but Cain got up and appeared to be all right.
That wouldn't last long. He led off the Brewers' batters in the bottom of the sixth, and on a 1-0 pitch from Tim Peterson he was hit in the left hand. Cain winced in pain and was led off the field by trainers for a closer examination.
The Brewers say he suffered a contusion on his hand after x-rays were negative. What this will mean for his availability still needs to be determined.
