UPDATE at 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 7, 2022: Milwaukee police officer killed in line of duty ID’d as MKE native Peter E. Jerving
Police were investigating a shooting that took the life of a Milwaukee police officer early Tuesday morning, sources told WTMJ.
BREAKING: No official word from MPD but I can confirm @MilwaukeePolice officer killed in the line of duty at an overnight shooting, 14th and Cleveland. @620wtmj working to get additional information from police. Expecting Chief Norman to speak soon.

The incident happened near 14th and Cleveland. No other details are being released.
A large police procession was seen leaving Froedtert Hospital and heading to the Medical Examiner’s office early Tuesday morning. Hundreds of officers were on scene as the procession made its way to the ME’s Office near 9th and Highland.
