UPDATE (Sunday 4 p.m.): Milwaukee Police have provided more details into Saturday’s officer involved shooting.
Police say an 18-year-old man was the one responsible for fleeing and crashing a vehicle, then firing a gun at officers when trying to flee by foot.
A 16-year-old teenage boy inside the fleeing vehicle was also arrested.
The officer who fired his weapon is a 45-year-old man with over 7 years experience with the department. He is on administrative leave pending an investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau.

MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee Police Officer was involved in a shooting Saturday evening, following a car chase near 37th and North.
According to MPD Investigator Willie Murphy, the incident took place around 6 p.m. after officers saw a vehicle driving recklessly. The officers attempted to stop to car, but they sped away.
The suspects eventually crashed the car on Center St. and fled on foot. During the foot pursuit, the suspect fired a weapon and an officer returned fire.
The suspect was eventually apprehended, and neither the suspect nor officer were injured in the shooting. Due to the car crash, the suspect was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave, and the identity of the suspect is unknown.
