The Milwaukee Common Council unanimously passed a resolution on Monday requiring all residents three years of age and older to wear masks while indoors.
The mandate also requires people to wear a mask while outdoors when they are within six feet of another person.
The legislation will now head to Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, who is likely to sign it quickly.
Several businesses recommended the passing of the resolution prior to Monday’s meeting.
The Common Council also passed the Masks for All resolution, which would provide a free mask to any Milwaukee resident who requests one.
