There will be two chances to catch IndyCar races in Wisconsin this weekend.
This weekend is the kickoff for the REV Group Grand Prix IndyCar doubleheader presented by American Medical Response. It’s taking place at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
John Ewert is the communications director for Road America. He tells WTMJ there are lots of new fans who are planning on showing up.
“It’s very exciting for them to see it, learn it, and want to know what’s coming up next in our schedule,” Ewert said.
“This is essentially one of the only forms of live sports in Wisconsin, and it’s an incredibly safe way to do so outside among all of our 640 acres.”
Once they got the green light to have fans in attendance, Ewert says they immediately went into planning mode.
“We will be having temperature checks at the gate, we encourage people to print their tickets at home for scanning at the gates, practice social distancing, bring a mask and hand sanitizer will be available at the gate.”
Saturday’s race starts at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday’s race starts at 11:00 a.m.
Police officers, firefighters and EMS workers will get into the event for free with an active I-D.
