The Ryder Cup, originally scheduled to be held at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan County this September, is being postponed until September of 2021.
The PGA made the official announcement on Wednesday morning.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Kohler Company wrote, “This move allows us an opportunity to deliver a celebration of sport to be shared among fans, folders, corporate patrons, volunteers, vendors, media and countless others in Wisconsin and across the world.”
President and CEO of Kohler Company, David Kohler, wrote that he plans on having fans in attendance for the 2021 Ryder Cup.
“A Ryder Cup deserves fans and Kohler’s hope and intent is to welcome all attendees from near and far with gracious hospitality next year,” Kohler wrote.
“It means a lot for us to host the Ryder Cup as it was intended to be played, with passionate fans enjoying a thrilling event at one of golf’s most visually stunning venues.”
As far as refunds for 2020 go, the website Rydercup.com has released a statement that reads in part:
Tickets purchased for the 2020 Ryder Cup via rydercup.com will be automatically valid for the corresponding day(s) in 2021. In the coming weeks, the PGA of America will contact those who secured tickets via rydercup.com to facilitate refunds for those unable to attend in 2021. Further details regarding this process are available on the Ryder Cup website. Those who have purchased tickets and hospitality packages on the secondary market must contact that specific site directly. The PGA of America will be unable to process refunds for those purchases.
