While the coronavirus pandemic has left in question whether fans will be attending NFL games at all in most markets, the league has created a mask mandate for fans should they be allowed in.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said that the league has set a requirement that “fans at NFL games this season will be required to wear face coverings.”
The move comes one day after the league canceled preseason games for the 2020 campaign.
NFL teams like the Green Bay Packers are communicating with fans about the possibility of either no attendance at games or partial attendance, as COVID-19 testing levels lead to safety decisions about large gatherings at stadiums.
The Packers have asked season ticket holders to “opt-in” or “opt-out” of buying individual game tickets for this season, and whether they wish for refunds on 2020 season tickets or to have their money allocated for 2021 tickets.
