A legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback is reportedly connected to a scandal involving to a non-profit in Mississippi accused of improperly spending millions in federal welfare dollars.
Brett Favre allegedly received $1.1 million in speaking fees for three public appearances which he did not make, according to an audit of the Mississippi Department of Human Services. It was allegedly part of $94 million which staff members of Mississippi DHS did not properly allocate.
Favre has not been charged, according to the Associated Press report.
The audit reportedly came after charges were filed against six people, including the former Mississippi DHS director.
The Mississippi Community Education Center reportedly paid Favre the money from funds provided to them by Mississippi DHS through the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. He allegedly received the money in 2017 and 2018.
Favre did not respond to messages left by the Associated Press with his agent, Bus Cook.
