A Green Bay Packers defensive lineman reportedly shares interest with the team in a return for the 2019 season.
ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports “mutual interest” for the Packers to bring back Muhammad Wilkerson.
He played in the first three games of the Packers’ 2018 season after signing a one-year, $5 million deal. In those games, he had five combined tackles before an ankle injury ended his campaign.
Wilkerson has had two double-digit sack seasons in his career, 2013 and 2015 with the New York Jets. He came to New York when current defensive coordinator Mike Pettine had the same job with the Jets.
Wilkerson’s 2017 was subpar compared to his best years, wth 3.5 sacks and 46 combined tackles, but came to Green Bay on a “prove it” one-year deal. Wilkerson started all three of his games in Green Bay last year.
