On a cold Saturday morning in March, Vince Vitrano and Erik Bilstad of Wisconsin’s Morning News showed their commitment to Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) by running head-on into the freezing waters of Lake Michigan at Milwaukee’s McKinley Marina.
As of this update, WTMJ and Wisconsin donors raised $4,812 to support SOWI in what is the first of several WTMJ Cares campaigns this year. The opportunity to give back doesn’t end there, either. Special Olympics Wisconsin provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy.
Wisconsin’s Morning News host Vince Vitrano will be leading the program beginning early March through March 18. On March 18, Vince is leading a fundraising team to take the Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Fans are encouraged to attend the plungeto support the Special Olympics initiative and Vince Vitrano. The money raised from the auction will then be donated to Special Olympics.
