With spring break on the horizon, families are seeking activities to do together. Fortunately, Wisconsin is full of kid-friendly destinations. Here’s to those shared moments of joy.
Take an activity-filled trip to Chippewa Falls
For big fun and small-town hospitality, consider a trip to Chippewa Falls. There are activities in the community adults and kids will enjoy! You can cheer on the Chippewa Steel hockey team where kids under 4 get in free. They have home games through mid-April.
Then head over to Ojibwa Golf & Bowl for family-friendly bowling and pizza. A great activity to pair with bowling is a visit to the Irvine Park & Zoo, which is just down the road. The kids will be delighted by the elk, black bears, hyenas, bison and other animals.
You can satisfy your sweet tooth with a visit to the Chippewa Candy Shop. The store has a rainbow of flavors for gummi bears, a variety of chocolate treats and other delicious candy. Adults, don’t forget to treat yourself while you’re in Chippewa Falls. A visit to the Leinie Lodge is a must. You can sip on your favorite Leinenkugel’s beer and tour the iconic brewery.
Visit a children’s museum in Madison or Eau Claire
A trip to a children’s museum is the perfect opportunity to make shared memories as a family. Wisconsin has tremendous museums that will keep the kids engaged and active for hours.
If you’re headed to Dane County, definitely check out the Madison Children’s Museum. The museum recently transformed an underused parking lot into an incredible all-seasons playground. The Wonderground is an outdoors play space that’s super popular with the young visitors. It’s made from a lot of natural, up-cycled materials and features a variety of play features like a massive climbing structure, a double-decker, kid-sized “birdhouse,” a historic log cabin and much more!
If you’re in western Wisconsin, check out the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire. They recently opened a stunning, brand-new space. Visitors are already being wowed by the impressive reimagining of the museum.
When you enter, you’ll be greeted by huge, exposed timbers and a rainbow of colors. Kids will love the new attractions and the reimagined exhibits from the original museum. There are interactive exhibits like a model car for the kids to play mechanic, a playhouse-style farmer’s market to explore, water works to get hands on, indoor climbing structures and so much more.
Ride the trains and fish for trout year-round just west of Milwaukee
