MILWAUKEE- Three of the Milwaukee Bucks majority owners spent big on this summer’s Democratic National Convention.
According to the Journal Sentinel, the trio of Wes Edens, Jamie Dinan, and Mark Lasry donated a combined $2.3 million dollars to this year’s convention, which, due to the coronavirus pandemic, took place mostly virtually.
Of the group, Lasry donated the most at $1-million, while Edens and Dinan chipped in $750,000 and $550,000 respectively. Fiserv Forum was expected to be the epicenter of the convention prior to the pandemic.
In total the convention’s host committee raised roughly $42.7 million, well short of their initial $70-million goal set when the convention was first announced more than two years ago.
Costs for the convention will reportedly exceed $57-million with the committee spending more than $13-million.
Organizers tell the paper that Milwaukee will not be on the hook for making up the difference.
