Brey Cycle Farm has been in the family since 1904 and is currently owned and managed by Jacob & Lauren Brey and Tony & Moriah Brey.
Their families continually adjust conservation efforts to improve the land and water for their neighbors, community and future generations.
They plant cover crops like winter wheat and winter rye to provide a growing plant on the land 365 days a year. This helps build soil health, minimize erosion, prevent nutrients from reaching streams or ground water, and improve wildlife habitat.
Brey Cycle Farm works with an agronomist and the local soil and water department to develop and implement a nutrient management plan. It documents strategies and practices to manage the land, including how manure – a terrific organic fertilizer – is applied to each field.
