- Julia and her husband got married in Milwaukee at the historic Pabst Best Place in 2018 in what she describes as a “magical fall wedding!”
- She has a Wheaten Scottish Terrier named Murphy who loves taking trips to Door County.
- Julia’s favorite news story she ever experienced was when she flew with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. They even performed barrel rolls and G6 loops!
- She loves birds and grew up with seven of them! Her favorite is a blue and gold macaw named Tango, who lives in the suburbs of Chicago with her Dad.
- Julia is an Executive Board Member of Special Olympics Wisconsin.
Bio:
A seasoned journalist with extensive experience throughout the state of Wisconsin, Julia Fello joins the 620 WTMJ team as co-anchor of Wisconsin’s Afternoon News following nine years as a lead reporter and anchor for TMJ4.
She received her B.A. in Communication Studies from Elmhurst University before earning a Master’s degree in Journalism from DePaul. Early in her career, Julia wore many hats at stations across the Midwest including Production Assistant and Field Producer in the Chicago area, Anchor/Reporter in Wausau and later, Madison before entering a Bureau Reporter role in Battle Creek, Mich.
That experience led her to TMJ4, where she has become a staple of the Milwaukee area’s television news ecosystem. She was the station’s Lead Reporter and anchored TMJ4 Today on the weekends for more than six years. Now, she joins John Mercure on Wisconsin’s Afternoon News, where she’ll continue to report while co-hosting the show and providing valuable news detail at the highest level as Milwaukee-area community members have accustomed to.
