John Mercure hosts the No. 1 afternoon news show in Wisconsin. John has won five Emmy awards and a national Edward R. Murrow award in addition to more than 100 local and regional journalism awards.
Highlights of John’s career include covering the Packers in three Super Bowls, being embedded with a Wisconsin combat unit in Iraq and covering six U.S. Presidents.
He graduated from Illinois State University with a major in Mass Communications and a minor in Political Science. John began his career in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and has also worked in Rockford, Illinois, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and at TMJ4 News in Milwaukee.
John is also on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Board of Directors.
Five Fun Facts:
-John has been married to his high school sweetheart, Michelle, for 30 years. Yes… they got married VERY young.
-John and Michelle have twin adult daughters, who live in New York City and Dallas. They didn’t know they would have double blessings until they arrived at the hospital 27 years ago!
-John’s grandparents have had Green Bay Packers season tickets since 1959. That’s the year Vince Lombardi arrived in Green Bay.
-John has traveled to more than 40 countries on six continents.
-If journalism ever doesn’t work out, John would like to open a casserole restaurant. Maybe it could be IHOC- International House of Casseroles.
